JULY 2004:
THURSDAY 22nd to WEDNESDAY 28th
OFFICE CLOSED - Re-Open Thursday 29th
Janice and I will be taking our first real break (holiday) in over 7 years
We will be closed all of these days. I will be checking with the office daily, so if you have ANY problem that can not be solved, please leave a message at the office and someone will get back to you. Please, this is for emergencies only.

JUNE 2004:
FRIDAY 18th
Sunshine Coast SHOW DAY:
We will be closed all day today, as will most of Maroochydore and Nambour

SPAM Again: Over the past few months we have tested about 20 SERVER BASED SPAM programs. Many of them had good features, but all had one problem or other that could have had potential problems for the delivery of your mail.

As the majority of you would be aware, SPAM (unsolicited Email) is getting out of control at the moment, so all this effort was VERY necessary.

During the testing of these software programs, we have had to stop and start the server many times. Depending on your own checking routines, you may have had a few 'Unable to Connect' messages. Our apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Finally today JUNE 18.06.2004, we have installed a SPAM detection program that appears to resolve most of the issues we experienced.

This is one we have tested previously - PINJO, but many thanks to the developer (Marcel) who took on board the changes we requested and have continued to develop the package to include most of our requests.

We will be sending out a Newsletter today, explaining the changes we have made and the actions you will need to take.

APRIL 2004:
MONDAY 19th
As most of you are aware, we have been working hard at over coming the amount of SPAM arriving into your mailbox. We have now tried two different filters, both of which had their own unique problems. So the next stage is to look at an upgrade to the mailserver to one that has builtin SPAM and VIRUS detection.
To this end, I downloaded a demo of a new mailserver on Friday to test out it's capabilities. I will keep you informaed of how it goes. John

Server Outage:
You have to love Microsoft somedays.
I logged onto the server this morning at about 6:10am and was advised that there were some required Critical MS updates that needed to be installed. This is something that we don't muck around with, if MS say install, we install.
After the install, we were advised that we needed a re-boot. OK, do the re-boot.
As many of you may have noticed this morning, the server was down. During the re-boot. it hung the server. We needed to wait until the tech fellows arrived at work to 'physically' start it up again. This took about an hour, the updated did some other wierd things as well.
My sincere apologies for any inconvenience. John

FRIDAY 9th thru 12th
We will be closed for the Easter break

THURSDAY 8th
We will be closed today. If it is urgent, please ring the office number (07) 54437807 and I will have this diverted to my mobile. I will be travelling to Wollongong to finally see my wife again after 7 weeks (Janice is looking after her mum), her family and my dad. Janice's dad is still in HDU in Wollongong hospital in critical condition. Our sincere thanks to everyone for their thoughts and kind words, they are appreciated.

MARCH 2004:
THURSDAY 18th
At 5:30 pm today, we will be bringing the server down for approximately 30 minutes, while we install an extra hard disk into the server. This hard disk will be primarily to provide more swap sapce to keep things going as fast as possile.

MARCH: We will be trialing a new server side SPAM filter. This is in an effort to reduce the amount of SPAM coming into your email box. You may notice the words PINJO on some of your emails, this is the name of the spam filter. You may also notice a change in the header of the emails wee suspect to be spam, we are adding the words 'PROBABLY SPAM'. Any comments, please contact us at the office (07) 5443 7807 or send an email to postmaster@net-exposure.com. We do have the option to delete thses suspect messages if you wish.

 FEBRUARY 2004:
THURSDAY 19th
We will be closed from 1:00pm today whilst Janice and I attend a seminar in Brisbane. I will redirect calls to my mobile, so if you need me urgently, just give 5443 7807 a call. However, after about 3:30pm, the mobile will be off.

 JANUARY 2004:
MONDAY 26th: Australia Day
Closed

SERVER OUTAGE:
During the night (Sunday 25th) a major storm hit SE Queensland and Brisbane in particular. This resulted in 60,000 homes and businesses being without power. As of this morning, there were still 9,000 without power.

Unfortunately, our server was in the 9,000 grid, resulting in the server being out of action until approximately 1:00pm. All now appears to be back to normal.

My apologies for any inconvenience caused.

MONDAY 5th:
Re-Open for normal trading after the Christmas holiday break.

 DECEMBER 2003:

FRIDAY 20th:
Like most of you, Janice and I are going to have a break over the Christmas / New Year period.

Whilst we won't be physically in the office, emails will be checked every day, so if you have any problems that need sorting out over this time, please drop us an email to help@net-exposure.com and we will get back to you at the earliest possible time.

Holiday Closure:
Close of work, Friday December 20th, 2003
Re-Open at 9:00am Monday January 5th, 2004.

Again, please accept our sincere thanks for your support during 2003, we look forward to working with you again in 2004.

We also wish you and your families a safe and happy holiday season and a healthy and prosperous 2004.

sincerely,
Janice and John
